The aim is to build up and test a numerical method to calculate the velocity of stationary two‐dimensional flows. Both inviscid and viscous fluids are considered. They act in the unbounded domain surrounding a given profile and a stream function is introduced. A variational procedure, adapted to unbounded domains, reduces the problem to solving a finite sequence of hormonic equations, posed in bounded domains. Some profiles are tested using a finite element method.
