A method is presented for determining the natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes of isotropic bimodular beams at certain supporting conditions. Although only the lowest three modes of the single‐layer and two‐layer bimodular beams were studied, in principle, the method may also be used to determine higher‐mode natural frequencies and shapes of the multi‐layer beams. Numerical analysis shows that the approach is suitable for the free‐vibration analysis of clamped/free and hinged/hinged bimodular beams.
