Abstract Transient heat conduction in a composite slab is investigated in the present work by using the orthogonal collocation method. The present numerical method is found to be quite efficient and highly stable even for the power‐type temperature dependence of thermal conductivity which often cuases severe computational instability to many numerical methods.
