Often overburdened and under‐resourced to begin with, many nonprofits were hit with a multilevel blow at the start of the pandemic: a sharp increase in demand amid volunteer fall off, resource constraints, and difficulties accessing their constituents to provide essential services and resources. Some have not been able to survive these conditions and have been forced to close permanently. Those that remain are in a precarious position, financially and capacity‐wise.
