The nation's nonprofit human services organizations are drastically underfunded, face serious financial and managerial constraints and lack the necessary capacity to meet the needs of society, according to a new report from the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the American Public Human Services Association. That's troubling considering the sector accounts for about $200 billion in economic impact each year, and provides the very services that underlie a range of social and economic challenges, including health care and incarceration rates.
