Charitable donations may have rebounded from the depths of the recession and are at or near historical highs, but that doesn't mean all is well in the nonprofit sector. Instead, according to researchers at the Institute for Policy Studies, more and more of that giving is coming from fewer and fewer sources—wealthy mega‐donors and their foundations, and donor‐advised funds—leading to a troubling “top‐heavy” donor base.
