The looming leadership shortage in the nonprofit sector might be even worse than expected, according to new research by the Bridgespan Group. Based on a survey of over 400 charities, about 25 percent of nonprofit C‐suite leaders left their positions in the last two years, and nearly as many plan to do so in the next two years. If that trend holds, the nonprofit sector will need to replace the equivalent of every C‐suite position over the next eight years, the research showed, leading to sizeable costs in terms of cash resources and lost productivity.
