As a parent advocate at Sawyer Elementary School, David Ortiz was responsible for helping students with their studies. Although he had a recurrent major depressive disorder, Ortiz was a satisfactory employee for at least 16 years. He never told his employer about his depression, because he did not want people at work to know.
