A 63‐year‐old woman with persisting detrusor hyporeflexia and lack of bladder sensibility 6 weeks after the occurrence of an acute anterior sciatic syndrome was treated with maximal electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor. An immediate improvement of bladder sensibility was observed. A complete normalization of the micturition reflex was obtained after five sessions of maximal stimulation during a period of 8 days. Electrostimulation therapy may restore normal function in the lower urinary tract in selected patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction.
