The hydrodynamic concepts of micturition dynamics ignore the detrusor as an integral part of the energy balance of voiding and postulate that the key for grading and judging voiding function is the intraurethral fluid energy loss alone. Such concepts are summarized in the term “urethral resistance” one of the most frequently misused terms in urodynamics.
