In a randomized crossover study, 46 males clinically suspected of infravesical outflow obstruction were investigated with two consecutive cystometries, either with the catheter balloon inflated or deflated. The sequence was chosen at random. A statistically significant difference was found in the frequency of cystometrically diagnosed detrusor reflex instability and in the maximum cystometric bladder capacity.
