A settlement analysis of a cohesionless soil layer subjected to an earthquake is presented. A theoretical solution utilizing Bessel functions and based on the so‐called densification model for amplitudes has been obtained. This permits to calculate the settlement under cyclic loading. The simplified formula is also presented which allows for the fast and straightforward estimation of settlement. A numerical example is included giving the comparison of results obtained by different methods.
