In this paper the stress and moment stress distribution in a periodically layered half plane due to an arbitrary surface loading are derived. The bending stiffness of each layer is considered within the framework of Cosserat's continuum theory. Special emphasis is given to the case when the shear modulus of the one type of layer is much smaller than that of an adjacent layer. Results are illustrated for the case of a strip loading.
