19 F magnetic resonance images were obtained of the ventricular walls of isolated rabbit hearts perfused with a perfluorochemical (PFC) emulsion. Since the PFC is known to stay within the vascular space in normal myocardial tissue, the 19 F signal should reflect myocardial vascular volume. 19 F MRI of PFC emulsions represents a new investigational tool for the study of coronary vascular volume.© 1992 Academic Press,Inc.
