We describe an improved perfusion system designed for NMR studies with 13 C‐labeled metabolites. Using this system we have monitored the uptake and metabolism of [ 13 C]acetate and [ 13 ]Clglucose in pooled human lymphocytes cast in an agarose gel thread. © 1986 Academic Press, Inc.
