This Essay inaugurates a Special Article Series called Polyolefins Catalyst and Process Innovations. Examples illustrating recent progress in both the fundamental understanding and application of Ziegler‐Natta and single‐centre catalysts in polyolefin production are given, notably in relation to the effect of catalyst and process modification on polymer structure and properties.
