The actin cytoskeleton is an integral part of specialized structures in Sertoli cells of the postpubertal mammalian testis, contributing to the blood testis barrier and the apical ectoplasmic specialization. In a study by Niedenberger et al. (this issue), a dominant regulator of the actin cytoskeleton, Palladin, unexpectedly moves into Sertoli cell nuclei as these cytoskeletal structures form at puberty. This image is a cross‐section of an adult stage‐VIII tubule stained for Palladin (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue).
