A three‐cell mouse embryo undergoing cleavage. This embryo was stained for creatine kinase (red), revealing that this enzyme associates with the mitotic spindle. Forsey et al. (this issue) hypothesize that this localization is to provide an immediate supply of ATP, as required during mitosis.
