The structure of the triterpene fern‐9(11)‐en‐28‐oic acid (1), was determined by concerted application of 2D methods, which also provided full 1 H and 13 C spectral assignments. Compound 1 is a rare triterpene which has been isolated once before, as its methyl ester. Earlier errors in 13 C spectral assignments are corrected. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
