A strategy for the assignment of aromatic 13 C NMR resonances of pyrrole pigments is presented which makes use of two‐dimensional chemical shift correlation spectroscopy via one‐bond and long‐range C,H coupling constants. The complete 13 C NMR assignments for a 3,4‐dihydropyrromethenone and three phytochrome model compounds (2,3‐dihydrobilatrienes‐abc) are given.
