Chemical shift and scalar coupling constant information has been obtained from the 1 H, 13 C, 29 Si and 119 Sn NMR spectra of a series of compounds (CH 3 ) 3 SnCH 2 M(CH 3 ) 3 , where M = Sn, Ge, Si or C and with one or two CH 3 (Sn) groups replaced by Cl, Br or I. The (CH 3 ) 3 M and (CH 3 ) 3 MCH 2 groups appear to have opposite substituent effects on chemical shifts.
