The 13 C NMR signals for some 4‐ substituted phenacyl bromides were assigned. The experimental chemical shifts of the aromatic ring carbons are in close agreement with those calculated using substituent chemical shifts. Both the carbonyl and the α‐methylene carbons exhibit upfield shifts compared with those of the corresponding 4‐substituted acetophenones.
