The proton and carbon chemical shifts for a series of tetrakis( p ‐substituted phenyl)ethylenes are described. Assignments followed routine substituent chemical shift trends. Both proton and carbon chemical shifts ortho to the varying substituent follow the empirical parameter, Q . The ethylene carbon chemical shifts are proportional to those at the position para to the varying substituent.
