The 19 F and 31 P NMR spectral parameters of a series of meta and para substituted phenylphosphonic difluorides were found to be linearly related to the substituent parameters: the phosphorus chemical shifts correlated with Hammett's σ constant, the fluorine chemical shifts with Taft's σ R parameter and the phosphorus–fluorine coupling constants with σ + .
