NMR solvent effects induced by benzene in methyl substituted benzoic esters can be effectively used in the interpretation of complex NMR spectra. A 1:1 collision complex between solvent and solute is proposed, supported by dilution curve experiments and the geometry of the ‘complex’ is discussed.
