13 C and 19 F NMR spectra of a series of mesogenic compounds, (S) ‐4‐ n ‐octyloxy‐fluorobiphenyl‐4′‐yl fluoro‐4‐(2‐fluoro‐octanoyloxy)benzoates, were determined in solution. The effect of fluoro substitution in various positions on the 13 C and 19 F chemical shifts was studied. 13 C, 19 F and 19 F, 19 F scalar coupling constants are given.
