Two‐dimensional H,C‐COSY spectra of some tetra‐, penta‐ and hexa‐coordinated organotin(IV) compounds were measured. The relative signs of n J ( 119 Sn, 13 C) and ( n +1 J ( 119 Sn, 1 H) coupling constants were determined after analysis of the orientation of the appropriate 119/117 Sn satellites in the H,C–COSY spectra. The relative signs in Bu n Sn and Bz n Sn ( n = 2 or 3) derivatives are opposite, whereas in Ph 3 Sn derivatives these signs are the same for carbon atoms in the ortho and meta positions and opposite for carbon atoms in the para positions. The same sign was found for 2 J ( 119 Sn, 13 C‐2) vs. 2 J ( 119 Sn C 1 H 2 ) in tribenzyltin(IV) chloride from the COLOC spectrum.
