Multinuclear ( 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn) NMR data are presented for a series of compounds of the type XMe 2 SnCHRCHR'CO 2 Me (X = Me, Cl; R, R' = Me, Ph). Values of 3 J (H, H), 3 J (Sn, H) and 3 J (Sn, C) were used to assign the preferred conformations of these compounds and at the same time to test the empirical relationships proposed previously for 3 J (Sn, C) and (indirectly) 3 J (Sn, H); the validity of these relationships was confirmed.
