Barriers to the pyramidal inversion of sulphur bonds were investigated for five pentacarbonylchromium complexes of cyclic and acyclic thioethers. The expected effects from the conjugation of p lone electron pairs of sulphur with neighbouring π‐electron systems on the free energy of activation for the inversion process were not observed.
