Carbon‐13 NMR chemical shifts of sixteen 1‐X,2‐Y,4‐Z‐3,5‐dimethylbenzenes are presented. It is suggested that the conformational changes of the substituents are significant in determining the chemical shifts of these compounds. The deviation from the additivity rule is discussed.
