13 C chemical shift data are reported for a series of para ‐substituted 1‐methyl‐1‐phenylcyclohexanes at 22 and ‐100 °C. The magnitudes of the SCS at alkyl and cycloalkyl carbon positions are discussed. The SCS at C‐methyl and C‐4 are significantly different in the two chair conformations. The variation at C‐methyl is appraised in terms of the orientation of the aromatic ring.
