Carbon‐13 NMR shifts for substituted 2‐thiophenecarboxanilides of general formula XC 4 H 2 SCONHC 6 H 4 Y(X=5‐OMe, 5‐Me, H, 5‐Br, 5‐NO2; Y=H, p ‐OMe, p Me, p ‐NO 2 , m ‐Me, m ‐Cl, m ‐NO 2 ) in DMSO‐d 6 solutions are reported. The effects of the X and Y substituents on these shifts are discussed, and correlated with substituent constants and with carbon shifts of analogous series of compounds.
