The 13 C NMR spectra of the synthetic chlorins H 2 (OEC), Ni(TMC) and H 2 (TPC) have been re‐examined. Evidence from single‐frequency proton decoupled, proton coupled, and 2D 13 C‐ 13 C INADEQUATE experiments show that the previous assignments of the meso ‐substituted chlorins were incorrect. Corrected assignments establish that the α‐pyrroline carbons of chlorins occur at lower fields (150–175 ppm) than the α‐pyrrole carbons.
