The 13 C NMR spectra of nineteen bromo derivatives of 5α‐cholestan‐3‐one, cholest‐4‐en‐3‐one and cholest‐5‐en‐3‐one have been recorded. The substituent effects are analysed and examined with respect to additivity. The more interesting γ syn and γ anti effects are considered in detail.
