The assignments of the sugar and ceramide 13 C and 1 H signals of peracetylated ceramide penta‐ and deca‐saccharide from rabbit erythrocyte membranes, viz. Galα(1→3)Galβ(→4)GlcNAcβ(1→3)Galβ(1→4)Glcβ(1→1) Cer (Cer=ceramide) and Galα(1→3)Galβ(1→4)GlcNAcα(1→3[)Galβ(1→4)GlcNAcβ(1→6)]GalNAcβ(1→4)GlcNAcβ(1→3)Galβ(1→4)Glcβ(1→1)Cer, were obtained by the combined use of homo‐ and hetero‐nuclear shift‐correlated 2D and DEPT spectra. A few ambiguities resulting from exact coincidence of 1 H resonances were resolved by relying on reference data for similar environments.
