Proton NMR spectra are reported for chlorotrimethylstannane, tetramethylstannane, tetramethylplumbane and dimethylmercury containing various combinations of CH 3 and CD 3 groups. Additive long‐range isotope effects on chemical shifts, 4 ΔH(D), are observed to result in increased shielding of essentially the same magnitude in each case. There appears to be no significant isotope effect on the 2 J coupling constant.
