13 C NMR spectra of N ‐phenylthioureas, N ‐phenyl thiocarbamates and N ‐phenyl dithiocarbamates of the ethyl and n ‐butyl type are compared. Significant differences are observed in the chemical shift of the thiocarbonyl carbon, which do not parallel the electronegativity of the bonded heteroatom.
