Abstract For three organosodium complexes, namely triphenylmethylsodium(tmeda) ( 1 ), fluorenylsodium(pmdta) ( 2 ) and fluorenylsodium(tmeda) ( 3 ), 13 C and 23 Na solid‐state FT‐NMR spectra have been measured for the first time. They were analysed in terms of chemical shifts, δ( 13 C) and δ( 23 Na), and 23 Na quadrupole coupling constants, χ( 23 Na). It is shown that the NMR parameters are sensitive to the structural features of the complexes and correlate well with the contact ion‐pair structures of 1 – 3 . 23 Na resonances are shielded by ring current effects of the aromatic ligands.
