A rigorous full‐wave analysis of coupled cylindrical microstrip lines mounted inside a ground cylinder is described. Numerical results showing the frequency‐dependent characteristics of the effective relative permittivity and the characteristic impedance of the coupled lines are presented. Both the even‐ and odd‐mode cases are considered, and the effects of curvature variation and the line separation on the characteristics of such cylindrical coupled microstrip lines are discussed. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
