Some procedures for the regularization of inverse‐scattering problems are evaluated and discussed by using a singular value decomposition of the Green operator. Results of numerical simulations of a cylindrical scatterer are reported to show the limitations and the capabilities of the described methods. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
