This article will examine the combining efficiency of a lossless power combiner where port mismatch and interinput port coupling are considerable. A derived lower bound for combining efficiency is compared with simulation results. It is shown that the combining efficiency of a lossless combiner is maximized when the combiner output match is optimized. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
