We propose to show that the use of applicators designed for 915 MHz is possible at 434 MHz provided that a high‐permittivity dielectric layer is laid on the microstrip excitation line. In this case, the heated area is practically the same, but we obtain a better focusing of the hot zone inside the heated tissues. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
