A new type of annular patch antenna is presented. At variance of classical annular patch antenna the inner edge is shorted by a cylindrical conducting wall. Therefore this antenna radiates as a circular patch but has a smaller stored energy, which allows a larger bandwidth, and the feed point can be chosen to have an easy matching. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons.
