In this article TLS‐ESPRIT [1] will be used to generate two‐dimensional high‐resolution microwave images. To enable the utilization of the 1D algorithm, a two‐dimensional data matrix is decoupled into two one‐dimensional sequences by forming an enhanced data matrix [2]. Pairing of the two 1D estimates is also addressed. To demonstrate the performance of the 2D algorithm, a microwave image was generated for a target measured in a compact range. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons. Inc.
