Equivalent surface electric and magnetic sources can generate an approximate far field scattered off a conductor. These are exact (electric) and approximate (magnetic) images of the exciting equivalent sources. A physical‐optics‐type computation with improved accuracy, which also accommodates concave surfaces, is achieved. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
