The classical transmission‐line method allows the study of the propagation of a TEM mode along a line. Then, if it is possible to consider nonlocalized losses on a line, the radiation phenomena are not taken into account. In this article, we propose a modification of the transmission‐line method to include radiation phenomena due to discontinuities of impedance or nonrectilinear lines. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
