A modified method is derived to analyze the optimum performance of the Class E amplifier with nonzero ON resistance. The required circuit component values can be calculated directly by this method. No direct‐search optimization of the component value is required, so computation time is saved. In addition, nonzero ON resistance of the transistor can be used to estimate the power loss in the transistor, and thus the collector efficiency of the amplifier can be calculated more accurately. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
