We have constructed a Pr‐doped fluoride fiber amplifier module pumped by two laser diodes (LDs). This module has a maximum signal gain of 17 dB at 1.30 μm. The saturated output power at 3‐dB gain compression is 5 dBm. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
