Numerical algorithms are utilized to design nontraditional transversal sections of TEM cells, leading to large areas of almost uniform electric field within small dimensions. Numerical inversion of the Schwarz‐Christoffel formula and predictor‐corrector mapping of equipotential lines are, utilized. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
