The effects of the initial chirp of the control soliton pulse on the time shift of the soliton‐dragging logic gate (SDLG) is investigated numerically in this article. We find that the positive initial chirp increases the time shift and the negative initial chirp decreases the time shift. The physical interpretation for this phenomenon is presented. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
